[BEAUTY REVIEW] Princess For A Day ft. Prisca De Nails @ Taman Gaya, JB

In my dreams, I could be a princess.
Wearing fancy dresses,
dancing across a ballroom floor,
and wearing a gorgeous crown
which sparkles in the sunlight.

Little did I know that one day, my dream came true.

Every woman can look stunningly beautiful, if she takes care of herself. Nails, often a neglected part of body, should be an essential part of beauty routine. Keeping them neat and nice is important, but there is so much more you can do when it comes to making them truly look like you. Whether you choose to decorate your nails with flowers, beads, stripes or polka-dots, your nails should be beautiful and an expression of yourself. Therefore, I decided that it's time to pamper my nails! I am glad to be invited by Joan to do my nails at her newly opened shop, Prisca De Nails at Taman Gaya, JB.

The moment I stepped into Joan's place, it felt just like home. The comfy sofas create a warm, relaxing feeling. I like the bright, open and spacious feel of the space.

For mummy to leave their kids here while doing their nails!

Wide selection of nail colours in the shelves.

The lady boss, Joan started learning basic manicure in 2006. Throughout these 9 years, she went through a lot of ups and downs. Got married and gave birth to her first child, it was hard for her to maintain her interest in nail art. Struggled when she was a part time manicurist, she decided to take up manicure course again to improve her skills. In 2013, she finally obtained her Odyssey Nails System Certificate. And now, she resigned from her job to become a professional manicurist. Really admire her spirit of never stop learning and pursuing her dream!

With the experiences gained over the years, Joan has won a lot of awards and certificates. She was the Grand Champion in a competition between Odyssey nail-art students. In 2014, she also won prizes for nail art sculpture, 3D nail art, acrylic French nail sculpture and Top 3 in Division 1.

Impressive!

Joan likes to spend her leisure time doing nail samples. She loves to try out and discover new designs, which explains the variety of designs she has here!

I really love the sunflowers! So delicate and pretty.

So many designs to choose from! I couldn't make up my mind which designs I like best.
Floral, bridal nails, french nails, world cup, pastel colour, polka dots, leopard prints - you name it, Joan has it! She is very patient and kind so feel free to discuss your preference with her. If you provide her with a photo sample, she can even customise your desired design for you!

Christmas is over but check out these Christmas-themed nails! Aren't they cute? :D

We all wish to look especially nice on certain occasions. Prisca De Nails provides home services for bridal events. All the brides can now have pretty nails on their wedding day! Prior booking is needed and do take note that there will be additional transportation fees for home services.

Don't forget to choose some accessories to add fun to your nails!

Joan is very patient and gentle while doing my nails. Firstly, she shaped my nails into slightly rounded nail shape. She applied some cuticle softener and cut away the thickened skin around my nails. Excess cuticle and callouses were also removed. Then slowly she started to paint my nails in layers, allowing each layer to dry between coats. She was extra cautious and careful when she was putting the jewels.

Joan allowed the gel polish to dry by using this UV light device.

Another LED device to speed up the drying process.

After around 2 hours, my nails are done!

I chose this French-nail inspired nail designs because I always prefer design which is not too boring and not too loud. French manicure is a classic and will always be in style. It creates a very clean and elegant look. Inspired because traditionally French nails have a pale pink base and bright white tips. Joan suggested me to change to nude base with soft pink tips, creating a very sweet feeling. I love the jewels that were added along the demarcation line between the nude and pink colours.

Ribbons and pearls for a sweeter, calmer and more girly look.

Spot the little cute bear on my ring finger. It is the dangling kind! OMG major loveeeee.

Princess got her nails done and is ready for a date with the prince! Hehe.
Thank you Joan for transforming my nails into a beautiful piece of art.

If you are tempted to pamper your nails too, why not come to Prisca De Nails? They are having New Year Promotion starting from 1/1/2015 to 31/1/2015. Enjoy more discounts when you go with your bff!

[FOOD REVIEW] B.E Cafe @ Taman Molek, JB - Part One

Who doesn't love cafe-hopping, especially with so many new cafes sprouting all over JB? In recent years, there has been a surge in the popularity of coffee. As we log on to Instagram, it is common that we see a whole string of photos of cafes that people are visiting. But do you know, or appreciate what it takes to brew that perfect cup of coffee? Ma Cherie girls were invited to the newly opened B.E Cafe branch in Taman Molek, and here we witnessed how the baristas combine their passion, skills, knowledge, and artistry to prepare not just a cup of coffee, but a work of art for every customer.

B.E Cafe - Be yourself
Taste the food, enjoy the coffee.

B.E Cafe boasts a homey, cozy atmosphere. It is the kind of cafes that I like - laid back, not overly designed, very friendly, where the focus is mainly on coffee. It was rather quiet for a Sunday but I guess that is also what makes the cafe comfy for a nice chill out place.

Selection of good magazines to relax and recharge, or to gain inspiration.

Barista of the day - Ah Sam was all focus making our coffee.

1. Rose Latte RM10.50

The very first cup of coffee immediately captured my heart. Girls love roses - so there's no doubt that this is going to be a love at first sight. Served with some rose petals on top, the rose latte tasted really good with that light rose aroma, yet the whole taste is not overpower by the caffeine. A perfect house blend of coffee beans from Columbia and Sumatra.

2. Caramel Macchiato RM10.90

The whip cream combined with the caramel sauce made this caramel macchiato sweet and incredibly rich and creamy. Satisfy my sweet tooth with minimal effort.

3. B.E Cappuccino RM8.50

One of the most popular espresso drinks, one can never go wrong with a cup of cappuccino. A cappuccino done right should be equal parts espresso, steamed milk and foamed milk. B.E cappuccino has the smooth and milky texture with a lingering coffee taste. I think they've got it right!

4. Syphon Handbrew Coffee RM15.00

Other than the standard espresso-based drinks, B.E Cafe offers hand-brewed coffee as well. This manually-brewed coffee requires skill and patience. In B.E Cafe, single origin coffee beans from Kenya were used to retain and perfect the beans' distinct characteristics. A clean, refined cup of coffee. Not my cup of coffee, but recommended to those who want to try something different!

5. Iced Latte RM11.50

When you are in the mood for iced coffee, try B.E Cafe's signature drink - iced latte. It was not as creamy and sweet as the hot one. Tasted fairly plain to me initially, but the more I drank, the more I liked it. A nice coffee aftertaste.

6. Vanilla Affogato RM9.90

Vanilla ice cream drowned in espresso - this is what makes up an affogato. The espresso melts some of the ice cream, creating a bittersweet, creamy sauce. This is a heavenly combination. So simple, yet impressive! Love this. And don't you think it looks extra elegant in that tall cocktail glass? :)

7. Citrus Chocolate RM12.50

The last two drinks I am going to introduce here are non-caffeinated drinks. Just look at this - another beautiful piece of art. I expected some fresh citrus aroma in this citrus chocolate but to my surprise, it tasted just like ordinary hot chocolate. So rich it tasted almost like a melted chocolate bar, a little bit too sweet for me. To all the chocolate lovers, I swear you would love this.

8. Baby Chino RM7.50

The moment this drink was served, all the girls went crazy - OMG LOOK AT THIS! It is so irresistibly cute! I stared at it in admiration and I really couldn't bear to drink it. Frothed milk topped with marshmallows and chocolate sprinkles, this is a cup of cuteness with the taste of heaven. Lovely!

With the opening of so many new cafes nowadays, those who want to survive in the market need to offer something special to distinguish themselves from their competitors. Beautiful drink presentation shows your customers that you strive for perfection in your operation, and I think this is really a plus point for B.E Cafe. They serve good food too, stay tuned for my updates. :D

Hello 2015!

It is that time of the year again. First blog post of the year! Happy New Year peeps. :D The turning of the calendar signifies an opening, an opportunity, and perhaps some reflections. Stalking back to my 2013 new year post and guess what, I achieved half of it. Not gonna tell you what I achieved what I didn't (bleh). If you are curious (or kepoh), you can click here to read about my reflections and resolutions last year.

So how about 2015?

1. Blog more

Blogging is something I really enjoy doing and I wish I have more time for that. I was all on my own, but in 2014, I met another ten girls who share the same dream as me. You can click here if you have not heard of the story of the Ma Cherie girls. It is amazing how far we have come and how well we have known each other, even though I just officially joined the team for less than a year. I believe we will all be better and stronger. And I promise! That there will be more of my personal updates here. :)

2. Learn more

Life is a non stop learning process. Instead of chasing quick entertainment that fails to satisfy, I wish to learn new stuffs everyday. I should be able to make connections between pieces of knowledge, and put them into good use. From next semester onwards, I will start to be based in the hospitals and it's going to be a whole lot different. I anticipate the challenges and opportunities that I am going to face. And yes, research. I used to hate you, but I will overcome you this year. Keep on learning - is what I need - and that's what successful people do. So do it.

3. Travel more

I never knew how it feels to get to see the world with my own eyes - until I visited Europe in the summer of 2014. And ever since after that, wanderlust has got me. I wish to just go, to some places I've never been. Taiwan is on my checklist for years. And backpacking *gasp* travelling with complete freedom! Is 2015 the year for me to try things I never, ever, thought I was capable of?

4. Give more

2014 is a year when I drawn myself closer to Tzu Chi. And I am truly grateful for this. If you have not heard of Tzu Chi, it is an international humanitarian organization which aspires and works toward relieving all of those in need. As Tzu Chi saying goes, we believe by helping others, we develop our own wisdom and enrich our appreciation for the meaning of life. I received a lot of love in Tzu Chi family in 2014, and it's time for me to give. How? I don't know. But I will not hesitate to do so when the time comes. For it is in giving that we receive.

5. Love more

Three aviation disasters, and massive devastating floods - 2014 has really been a tough year for Malaysia. There should be no criticising at this point of time. All we need is love. It could be to exercise more patience, tolerance, become more generous, unselfish, less self-centered. Cherish people. Talk to people. Understand their stories. Feel a heartbeat for something outside yourself. Among all the resolutions, this is the one I want to achieve the most. For there is nothing more powerful than becoming a better person. Love heals everything, don't you agree? Before I end this post, let us come together in prayer for the precious lives lost. 2015 will be better.

Happy New Year 2015!
