[FOOD REVIEW] Lemon Tree Restaurant @ Taman Melodies, JB

Still thinking of where to go for your next meal? Here's a recommendation for you JB foodies - Lemon Tree Restaurant at Taman Melodies, JB! Thanks to Kim, I had the opportunity to get to know this restaurant. :)

Lemon Tree Restaurant is slightly off the busy streets with a row of trees right in front of the shop, creating a peaceful and serenity feeling to customers who wish to escape from the hustle bustle of city life. It occupies two shoplots in Taman Melodies and you can easily spot the shop with the green signboard. The decor is simple and basic, suitable for all kinds of functions, family gatherings. And it is just a short distance from KSL Mall!

The moment I stepped into the shop, the song 'Lemon Tree' by Fools' Garden immediately captured my heart as I hummed along with it. I guess the owner of the shop loves music as much as I do too! They serve mainly Western cuisines, but there are local cuisines as well. I reached the place at around 7pm and there were not much customers at that time. But the restaurant was almost full when it was around 8pm. So it is better to call them to reserve a table if you are coming with a group of friends. Oh, they have free wifi too! :)

We were invited mainly to try out their desserts tonight, but we were famished so we ordered two pizzas before the dessert.

9 inch Pan Pizza

Before we eat, we sprinkled some cheese powder on top of the pizza, because we are all crazy cheese lover, aren't we? ;) The cheese powder was upon request, though. There are six slices per pizza, which I feel that it is more than enough for two people to share.
The Island Seafood (RM19.50), being the most popular among all the flavours, has fresh prawns, squid and tuna w bed of thousand island sauce, slice onion and mozzarella cheese. The crust is just nice plus the generous amount of ingredients on top of the pizza, yumm!
The Chicken Floss Pizza (RM17.50, not in the picture), has crunchy chicken floss w bed of mayonnaise sauce and mozzarella cheese. I personally prefer this flavour because it is not a flavour that you would get anywhere. Chicken floss! My all time favourite. :D
*Add cheese RM3.00

After a short break, here comes the most awaited moment - dessert time! But before that, let me introduce you the handsome pastry chef of the night - Kevin Sio!

 Behind the scene!

Kevin is the current owner of Sweet Moment Cake & Dessert and is in a partnership with the owner of Lemon Tree Restaurant. He has 13 years of experience in making all kinds of pastries, desserts and breads. (Such a young talent! :O)

Hop on to Kevin's Facebook page for more beautiful cakes of his!
Or you may contact him at 016-7102808 if you wish to make any reservation of cakes.

The first dessert of the night was Matcha Tiramisu (RM13.90).

I simply love the matcha powder sprinkled on top of the tiramisu cake, the fragrance of matcha lingers on my tongue, leaves me craving for more after each bite. The green layer you see in between is lady finger (a kind of light and sweet sponge cakes, a principal ingredient in many dessert recipes) mixed with Japan sweet wine, adding a little moist to the cake. *Contains alcohol.* I am not a big fans of Tiramisu but this is one of the best that I have tried. To be honest, this was my favourite dessert of the night! <3 p="">

Mousse Au Chocolat (RM14.90)

This is a must-try for dark chocolate lovers! Kevin used dark chocolate instead of milk chocolate as the top layer of the cake, with crunchy hazelnut feulitin as the base. Eating with the vanilla ice cream at the side, oh my, it was heavenly nice! The ice cream doesn't melt fast so don't worry if you wanna shoot pretty picture of it prior to eating. :p #letmetakeaselfie

Chocolate Cubes (RM14.90)

Well said! So we had the second chocolate dessert, which is these cute chocolate cubes. *Diet? What is diet?*
As you can see, you have to pour the spoonful of milk over the chocolate cubes before you start to eat. And also for this one, you can eat with the vanilla ice cream too. But what makes it special is the brownies cubes! The taste of the chocolate is really rich and I love how it is also not that sweet. All the girls closed their eyes and went 'mmmmm' after putting the brownies into their mouth. Puuurfect!

Chili Padi Sorbet (RM6.90)

Ahh you didn't hear me wrong. It is CHILI PADI sorbet. How's the spicy chili got to do with the sweet sorbet? Kevin shared with us how he wanted to make a difference and break the prejudice that spiciness and sweetness can never be put together. At first I was a bit scared so I only tasted a little. It tastes sour at first, but as the sorbet melts in my mouth, the spiciness comes - wow I would say that it was really a wonderful adventure for my tongue. However, I personally fancy sweet dessert more than a 'spicy' dessert, but still it depends on individual taste bud. Still couldn't figure out the connection between them? Come and have a try then! :)

Overall, we enjoyed the night and the food. The desserts made me totally forgot about my plan of dieting ooppss (They were just so nice!) I will definitely come back for more delicious dishes!
