[FOOD REVIEW] B.E Cafe @Taman Molek, JB - Part Two

It's no secret that I am addicted to cafe hopping. (You can read about my previous discovering of good coffee in JB here :D) So today I am here again continuing my cafe hopping journey, to introduce some good food that B.E Cafe at Taman Molek, JB offers.

1. The Breakfast Essentials RM23.50

Start your day right with B.E Cafe's The Breakfast Essential. Just by looking at it makes one happy - look at the variety it has in one plate and it is so colourful! Comes with toast, scrambled eggs, sausages, hashbrowns, mushrooms, baked beans and salad. Totally hearty and wholesome. The scrambled eggs are moist with a nice buttery whiff. I LOVE the wild mushroom sautéed with balsamic vinegar - the main reason that I love this dish. The generous portion is plenty to feed two, especially ladies with small appetites. Perfect for brunch - the best part is it is served all day!

2. Grilled Chicken Chop with Mushroom Sauce and Rice RM15.50

No deep frying here, so yes it's healthier. Served with rice, the chicken is tender and juicy. Also it is decently portioned. Delicious!

3. Mushroom Spaghetti Aglio Olio RM16.50

I always love Aglio Olio. Italian for ''garlic and oil'', Aglio Olio is pasta coated with garlic and olive oil - simple but delightful. B.E Cafe's Aglio Olio did not disappoint me either. Expect slight hint of spiciness as chili flakes are added.

I am drooling now just by looking at this picture.

4. Classic Hawaiian Pizza RM12.90

The classic Hawaiian pizza is an all time favourite. What makes B.E Cafe's Hawaiian Pizza special is that they have ultra thin crust that makes every bite a bit of crunch - just like eating biscuits. Topped with delicious mouth-watering pineapples, the combination is just perfect!

5. Smoked Duck Panini RM17.90

I didn't know what is panini, then I wish I knew it earlier after I tried this Smoked Duck Panini. Generally, panini is a sandwich made with toasted bread, cut horizontally and filled with all kinds of ingredients. The smoked duck here is the bomb. Enough said, make sure you try this!

6. Turkey Bacon and Ham Savoury Waffle RM15.90

Who says waffles need to be sweet? Here at B.E Cafe they have savoury waffles. As usual, I enjoy looking at the warm, golden egg yolk flows like slow hot lava when cut open. Waffle is always my thing, but perhaps a sweet tooth like me still prefer a sweet waffle. For a truly different twist on waffles, you've got to try this.

7. Fried Lotus Chips RM8.90

A crunchy and delicious snack to end the day.

[FOOD REVIEW] Moonlight Cake House @ Taman Sutera Utama, JB - PART 1

With the introduction of the new menu of Moonlight Cake House, Ma Cherie bloggers and Tony Johor Kaki were invited to try them out a few weeks back.

Moonlight Cake House - Your favourite cake house in town
I am sure most of you have heard of Moonlight Cake House. Founded in 2007, its six branches in Johor Bahru has gained its popularity over the years and they have just opened their seventh branch in Permas Jaya recently. Good news is that it is coming to KL very soon!

Boon Lin, the manager of Moonlight Cake House gave us a warm welcome and explained the new menu to us. He told us that they are planning to bring in the brand new concept and menu to all of the outlets one by one in order to let the customers to experience a whole new level of dining at Moonlight. I guess it is the spirit of never stop improving that makes Moonlight a huge success today! :)

The six of us were really famished after hearing from Boon Lin. And they really served us food fast! Let's start with some appetizers. :D

Appetizer :-
Cheesy Potato Wedges RM6.90

Ohhhh just look at the cheesy sauce. I KNOW RIGHT. I instantly forgot that cheese=fats and had one piece after another. Nice start! We finished them off in a blink of eye.

Scallop with Capelin Roe RM12.90

If you didn't know already, capelin roe is the orange thing that you see on top of the scallop. Seems familiar? We also eat them with sushi! I always love eating that with sushi, I never knew that they can be a good combination with the scallops too! The scallops were succulent, super fresh and sweet! Favourite dish of the night! :)

Main dishes of the day :-
Bamboo Charcoal Crunchy Chicken Burger RM12.90

Burger is everyone's favourite nowdays. My Burger Lab, Fatboy's, Burger Builder or even Ramly burger (lol). So what's so special about Moonlight's burgers?

I would say it's the crunchy chicken in between the black charcoal buns. The mayonnaise sauce was specially made and amazingly it didn't make the bottom bun soggy. Plus point!

Aglio Oglio with Mushroom RM13.90

I am not a fans of Aglio Oglio so this dish turned out to be pretty ordinary to me. However, the chef was really generous in the amount of mushrooms in it! So if you are a fans of Aglio Oglio you might want to give it a try? ;)

Grilled Chicken Chop with American Cheezy Sauce RM19.90

If you love cheese, this is definitely another dish for you! The American Cheezy sauce on top of the chicken chop was so yum! (The sauce tasted the same as the Cheesy Potato Wedges) And it was served with mashed potato, coleslaw and some fresh vege at the side. Did you notice the small cup of rotini (a kind of pasta)? I have never tried pasta with chicken chop in a plate so this is kinda unique! You can eat them with the black pepper sauce.

Moonlight serves Local Asian cuisine too!

Honey BBQ Chicken Chop with Fried Rice RM11.90

The chicken looked like charsiew to me lol. And it really did taste like charsiew maybe because it looked red and tasted sweet too. The fried rice was what attracted me to this dish. Well, I love anything related to eggs. :D

Fried Slice Fish Bee Hoon Soup RM9.90
This was highly recommended by Boon Lin so we ordered one to try. From first look it doesn't look appealing to me.... *judging*

.....but not when I have tried the fish. The fish was so fresh and it wasn't overcooked at all. And you don't just get one or two slices in the soup, but many slices! The broth was not the normal clear colour but the milky one.

It was a great night spent with everyone. A full stomach makes a happy heart! :D But what made me the happiest is that I get to learn from everyone there, be it phototaking skills or life experience shared during our chit-chatting session! :)

Okok I know. Don't be jealous of me. :p
He's the winner of Best Malaysia Food Blog 2013 and Best Singapore Food Blog 2013.
Tony, the Johor Kaki!
The most well known food blogger and I am sure everyone read his blog for the best food in town.
He seldom shows his face on his blog but I don't care I am still putting up this picture hahaha.
I am so honored to do the food review with you this time, Tony! :)
*fan-girl-mode*

With Boon Lin, the manager of Moonlight.
Thank you so much for inviting us over for the night!

.........Wait it's not the end yet! I am yet to write about Moonlight's most famous cakes and dessert we had that day. How can I miss that out? So it's gonna be another post. Hehe. Stay tuned kay!

[FOOD REVIEW] Elizabeth Fine Dine @ Grand Shanghai Food Theme Park

Have you ever dreamt of experiencing how Queen Elizabeth dines and what the Queen eats? At Elizabeth Dining, we can dine like the royalties!

Elizabeth Dining could be the closest thing to a fine-dining restaurant in Puchong. The interior decoration boast a Victorian era theme with bright chandeliers, hand painted cutleries and lush upholster furnitures. However, the food prices are kept to a very affordable level for a fine-dine which aims to cater to a larger group of audience.

My friends and I came at around 7pm and the restaurant was still empty at that moment. But even when it reached peak dinner hour the whole restaurant was not packed at all. This is one of the reason I love this restaurant because your conversation with your close friends will not be disturbed and you can even enjoy the peaceful music played by them.

The waitress approached us and arranged a seat for 3 of us immediately. We were served with water and napkin and she introduced the menu to us in a very polite way. We were told that they are going to have a new menu very soon as the management is in the midst of transitioning the outlet into a more mid-class restaurant, so stay tuned!

What a perfect date it would be to bring your another half here!

Love their cutleries! Don't you?

Beautiful vintage wall paper with rose petals at the side,
showing how thoughtful the management at preparing little surprise for us.

Paintings of the mid 30's

It took only a short while for the food to be served. Meanwhile we enjoyed admiring and taking pictures of the beautiful decorations around us!

Girls, you know you shouldn't miss the chance to take photos here! ;)

The first dish for the night was the Caesar Salad (RM15).

As an appetizer, it comes in a very generous portion so 3 of us shared it.  It is an all time favourite for European salad serves with fresh romaine salad, poached egg, parmesan cheese, Cesar dressing, bread crisp and European herbed chicken slices.

I love how the cheese compliment well with the salad!

Next, we had the mushroom soup (RM15)

It has a thick creamy texture and not too salty for me. The inclusion of crusty bread crumbs was a nice touch that complimented the hearty soup.

Our main course of the night - Fresh from the sea Fish of the Day with Spicy Orange Salsa Sauce (RM26)

Fyi, this main course comes together as a set dinner with the caesar salad and the mushroom soup above at the price of RM48. The Fish of the Day was salmon! Yumyumm, my favourite. The chef was creative enough to choose to blend real oranges with fresh orange juice for the sauce to accompany the pan-fried salmon. The result was an uncanny mix of the mild fish flavour with sweet and sour tangy sauce. The sauce was the BOMB for this dish! I never thought that the combination of orange and salmon can taste so good. It simply took my breath away.

Spaghetti Seafood Carbonara (RM33)

It is a famous Italian creamy seafood cuisine with clams, prawns, mussels and squids. The prawns were super fresh and we just couldn't get bored with the creamy carbonara sauce. We normally get bored with white carbonara sauce easily and most of the time, we couldn't finish the whole plate of carbonara spaghetti. But definitely not for this one! You will fall in love for it at first taste. Three of us agreed that this dish was the BEST of the night. (Y)

With the chef's own created recipe, the All Time Favourite Chicken Chop (RM18) turned out to be pretty normal to us on that night. Probably the other 2 main courses stole the limelight from it. Haha. However, I love the potato wedges as I am a potato-lover!

What's a meal without a sweet dessert to end? :D The waitress were very observant and thoughtful as they served our dessert on time when we finished the main courses. We ordered Red Velvet Cake (RM12). I love the way they sprinkled the chocolate around it. But the taste of the cake wasn't up to our expectation, or maybe because three of us were very full already by then.

After your meal, you can take a stroll at the Grand Shanghai Theme Park. Nowadays, Setiawalk mall becomes one of the hot places in Klang Valley, especially following the opening of this Grand Shanghai Food Theme Park. It is a must-go for people who are keen to journey back to the mid 30′s street of Shanghai. It is a place filled with antique cars, trishaws, old wooden benches and Chinese music from the bygone years. A perfect spot for people who love photography!

So many red lanterns!

Even children couldn't resist to take a picture in front of the antique car!

The prices are affordable to us because we purchased vouchers from Living Social which entitled us a 40% discount off the bill! What a great deal. You can click here to find out more! :)

Overall, the great ambiance at Elizabeth Dining certainly is the greatest attraction and will please those who are seeking to enjoy western fares with a classy setting. We were pleased with the service and had a great night. I will definitely visit this restaurant again very soon to share my discovery with my friends! What about you? :)

My ratings:
Food: 4/5
Service: 5/5
Cleanliness: 4/5
Ambiance: 5/5
